A fusion of infection control and design in your dental office. Who would have thought? Sherwin-Williams debuted a new line of paint at the Cleveland Clinic's 2015 Medical Innovation Summit in Ohio recently. It is called Paint Shield™ and it kills infection-causing bacteria within two hours of coming in contact with non-porous surfaces (ie: walls, doors, & ceilings).
The paint contains a compound called Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride, which kills 99.9% of MRSA, Staph, E. Coli, VRE, and enterobacter aerogenes. This will be beneficial for all kinds of medical facilities, including dental offices. It is registered with the EPA and is the first of its kind. With proper maintenance, the paint's infection control properties can last up to 4 years.
